The exercise, jointly organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, South Gyeongsang Province and the city of Tongyeong, simulated a red tide outbreak caused by elevated sea temperatures. Nearby fishing boats churn the water to help spread the yellow clay across the affected area, a method used to suppress harmful algal blooms. [YONHAP]
